Tom Tom 3 to Tom Tom 5 & checkpoint?
Discussion
I am currently running tom tom 3 on a PDA, is tom tom 5 much better? and can you get a version of chepoint for it that warns you of camera's and gives you a distance countdown to them, like checkpoint that i run with the pocketgps database i currently use on tomtom 3
I know tomtom 5 comes with its own warning sounds but i like the distance countdowm and the relevant speed warning offered by checkpoint and dont want to loose this if i upgrade
also can your own addresses be moved from 3 to 5 ?

I had tomtom 3 on my ipaq, upgraded to version 5 and promptly went back to 3.
Perhaps things have changed in the last couple of years but when I first updated, the only improvement was the smoother animation of the map.
So many features had been dropped, that I just couldn't get used to it. It could do its own version of checkpoint using datafiles that you provide in the same way as checkpoint. However, that was the only improvement imho. The main feature I missed and which killed it for me was the loss of the ability to log your gps coordinates. When I'm exploring and looking for a new fun route, I like to be able to download the trace of where I've been to so that I could find it again. It may be a bit geeky, but I also like to review the data describing the longer journeys I take.
