Garmin StreePilot i3 - cheap, cheerful and not bad
Discussion
Bought one for the wife last week.
Has all the essential functionality in a tiny format for a tiny price.
Cost £120 via mail order (I gathered afterwards that Woolworths have/had them on offer in store for £99 - but you'll have to check that out for yourself)
The compromise to get it to that price seems to be only in screen size (it's small, but I see that as a good thing as it's pocketable and your should be listening to the voice commands rather than the screen anyway) and that the screen isn't touch sensitive (you just get a roller wheel and a back button, which are easy to use and intuitive, but make entering your destination slightly slower).
You can enter the postcode followed by a house number in about 15 seconds, and somewhere in the POI database (like an airport) in the same amount of time. Typing in a full address takes up to a minute though.
Comes with an extensive POI database, but I added Pocket GPS World's scamera database myself (£2 for a months access, or £19 for a years).
Works a treat, though multiple cameras in a navigation intensive area of London did once lead a moments hesitation (of an overloaded driver!), and comes highly recommended.
Word of warning though: I was kind of hoping that it might pay for itself through more efficient journeys and lower insurance (the wife's got 6 points in the last year...), however, its now given her confidence to go and visit friends/places that she never would have dared before!

I know exactly wht you mean about the confidence thing. I got a c310 for £200 from halfrauds the other day and downloaded the same databases as you.
They are excellent! except for the custom POI',s because you get awarning for everyone.
I have to look into getting a card reader so i can get rid of the foreign languages and make more room for stuff. Also put poi's into corect catagories. They are working on celeb voices for garmin at pocket gps i think.
