I have recently bought this new sat nav. Whilst the accuracy is great and the TMC useful, I found the mapping and info to be very our of date. I contacted Sony and gthey confirmed that the maps and info are at least three years out of date. Why does a company like Sony introduce a brand new product with obsolete data? Sony say that they may be a new map released at the end of the year but have not confirmed that it will be free.
So, lesson learned - check on how dated the mapping and info is b efoe buying a system.

Best thing to do it to return the unit and get your money back!
Sony is trying to compete in the Navigation market on product "Brand" alone and not on the quality of the data etc contained in their mapping etc.
I don't think they are having much luck as the price was dumped quite quickly after launch of there systems.
TMC is also a real waste of time and I have only been redirected twice in 2 years using it.
People expect a lot more with Navigation combined camera detection than just buying a brand named product.
Road Angel Navigator is another prime example of a flawed system pushed out relying soley on "BRAND" name
