Sorry for this being a bit long winded.........

I have a Road Angel 2 which I hardly ever use. A little while ago, Blackspot were doing a deal where you could upgrade your RA2 to the Navigator for a bit of cash. My problem is, is it worth it? I could sell my RA2 on Ebay and buy something else - Garmin, Tom Tom?

I need something that is easy to use, easily portable between cars and don't want to spend a fortune. I just need something that will do the job. I've heard reports that the Navigator is not as good as some others.

Thoughts anyone?

There is no doubt in my mind at all that the best SatNav solution bar none available today is Tom Tom. I would rate it above all the "in-car" solutions I've seen. I believe the latest one will take a Camera database and chirrup when you get near one.

I have a Navman unit. Its good. But not as good as Tom Tom. The camera alerts (same database from PocketGPS) on it work well though...

I have to back up with what Don has said. I have a Tom Tom One, and it is one of the best thing I have ever brought for my car. The graphic interface is very easy to understand when driving the car, and the product as a hole is a pleasure to use. Worth every penny.

Can you update a Tom Tom One? Like a Road Angel?

Or is there no need?

word on the street (Well amazon reviews) is that the tom tom won't work if you have a heated front screen unless you buy a seperate ariel.

Anyone throw any light on this? Want to get one, but my car has heated glass front side and rear, so if it really does block the signal seems like it's a non starter....

My RA2 works fine in the Cerb and Range rover, both with heated screens but is a PITA in the Citroen which has a Sundym coating on it.

Not the Tom Tom I know, but similar technology?

The heated screens can act as a sort of faraday cage

Most screens have a point where they are OK though. Bear in mind that you only have a soft roof, so it may not be so critical.

TBH honest mate, the only thing to do is to try one...

Seems it's probably worth a go then - will buy somewhere I cna take it back I suppose! Good to know that others have used them with heated screens. As you say it's not like I've got a metal roof anyway!

Could you give me an idea of what my RA2 is worth with about 18 months subs left on it and and about 12 months old?

Is more than a ton unrealistic?

TS, Ive gone down the Navigator route because I had the upgrade deal. I wont lie and say its been trouble free, but I like it.

If I did it all again, I would probably go for (on recomendations) the Snooper Indago @ £500ish

Your RA 2, via Fleabay is worth maybe £150 tops?

Get it then dude

Not used a TT One, but I know a few peeps with them (my little sis included) who have had probels either with the unit or the directions/guidance (I also know a number who have had no problems at all, for a balanced debate). But £/£ a good option. Im guessing, but the camera warnings on the TTs are not directional? And IMO they are a bit bulky round the back? Cant slip them into your breast pocket like I can with the Navigator (and the Indago seems to be of similar dimensions to the Nav?)

£399 sounds good for Indago certainly.

I bought TT one for £249 including £19 case.....50% of £499 price for Indago...

Re TT One, warnings are directional, no probs there. Also the TT one is a lot less bulky than rest of TT range so is certainly pocketable, tho' maybe not your breast pocket...
