Hi,
has anyone heard of any issues with French police confiscating Satnavs because they believe that they are similar to Road Angels etc?

Only asking as I am about to buy a factory refurbed TT700 for £238 ex vat and am off to France in June and don't want to 'lose' it en route!!

Thanks
Nick

Not had a problem... did about 4000 miles in Europe last year (the majority in France) and never had a problem.

I can see why this could happen in France a couple of years back. These days, they should know though.
A good way to avoid the problem is to keep the purchase receipt and user manual of your Tomtom in your car. Show it to the Police if you get into trouble.

OK -Laser and radar detectors are totally illegal in france

Some UK GPS devices also have laser detection - which would also be illegal

Road angels that are sold in france do not have laser detection capabilities.
GPS devices are not illegal in france but a UK road angel would not contain the franch database and therefore useless in france

You can now download an EU database from blackspot.com Costs £20 for 6 mths but is not for the Road Angel 2 unfortunately.
