Hi

I am ready to buy a portable sat nav and I am impressed with how easy to use the TT's are. I have used a friends one previously in Europe and would like to buy one in time for a European trip in May. I understand that there is a new range of TT's due out soon. Is this likely to be in the next three weeks? I really don't want to buy the current version if the new ones are just around the corner.

Cheers Jonathan

From what I understand of the TT distribution systems. Even if it were to be launched in the next 3 weeks it is likely to be a further 6 months before it reaches the stores. Realistically I think it is likely to be some time before the replacement models are available.

I would choose from the current flock as they are far superior to anything else on the market any way (In my opinion)

There's also a new range of Navman systems due in the shops imminently. They seem to have similar capability and be about £100 less.

Further to my post a few weeks ago, are the new range of Tom Toms available yet? I notice they are listsed on the TT website. are they in the shops and has anybody managed to buy one. I'm interested in the 710 model.

with reference to the Navmans - will they have the traffic updates and speed camera features?

Thanks

They can have a traffic module for the Navmans, like the Tom Toms. I'm guessing the speed cameras can be downloaded, just like they are currently for the Tom Toms.

Michelin have just release a device with traffic built in (X-930), I'm not sure if it will work with full postcodes.

Thanks. Let's hope that they have the 710 also.

10% discount also noted, cheers.

Has anybody actually bought one of the new units yet?

TBH I don't think there's a lot of difference in the 710 compared to the 700 - except for some enhancements to the bluetooth phone module, and a wider screen - I would have a look around for some 700s, as they're going for about £250 in most places, and let's face it, they use the same maps and software.

Just had a look at a website pre-advertising the Garmin C550 - sounds like they're catching up with the TT Go units - but at what cost? The unit weight is given as 59 pounds! That's a helluva battery you've got there. son!!
