Dell Axim X51v / TomTom5 / Holox Bluetooth GPS
Works great for me.

The subject title looks as if you are offering something..

Yeah I suppose it does. Apologies I should have titled it 'I want to get a PDA and load Sat Nav onto it??.'

So how much does the Tom Tom software cost?

I bought mine off eBay - still think the price was good £70, but it was GB maps only, most of the offerings are for Europe maps.

There appear to be some pirate sellers of TT on eBay, but I didn't want to take the risk that it wouldn't register.

It's worth trawling some of the pda / nav forums to get an idea of prices and kit.

Yeah thanks Paul. I just think it makes more sense to have a PDA that can be used for more than just a plain Sat Nav system!!

I use the Holux receiver as well in my set up. Sensational box of tricks.

I bought a Mitac Mio 168. It's a nice package, but the software that comes with the U.S. version is useless (Destinator). I recently put Tom Tom Navigator 5 on the unit and it's a world of difference. Really enjoying it now.

I like it, but if all you're going to use it for is Sat Nav it is probably over specced.

I'm another one running the Dell Axim X51V and TomTom 5.21, but using the 'official' TomTom bluetooth receiver.

The only thing to think about if you are doing this is that using the bluetooth connection can drain your PDA battery in as little as an hour or so.

You may want to look into getting a combined car charger and mount for the PDA if you are going to use it for long periods.

Co-Pilot Live will run on a PDA & is first class with seamless maps of the UK & Westen Europe. Have used it in the UK, France & Germany & been very impressed.

Just bought a Palm TX with TomTom5 - amazon for £299. Worked first time out of the box, so far so good.

Does Garmin have a product for loading onto a PDA? There seem to be plenty of maps for everywhere in the world, but only Garmin GPS hardware+pre-loaded software in the U.K. Another case of rip-off Britain?

Anyone got a copy of TT navigator 5 Western Europe for Pocket PC they don't want?

i'm looking at getting an HP RZ1710 pocket PC with TomTom software installed - is this combination going to be easily usable, clear and have decent sized screen?

UK use only, postcodes, streetnames and places of interest etc..

its a special offer.

Don't know about your PDA (I use a Dell X51V) but TT5 does everything you are looking for assuming the PDA will run it OK.

Most pda have around the same size screen and aren't much smaller than most stand alone sat nav units, i use a HP rx3175 and can hear it in my TVR (with sports exhaust) and with the radio on too, it's great.
