Bought a Bluemedia unit last year (BM6380)

Very good while it works......but every time you charge it from the mains it locks up requiring a hard reset which then looses all your personal settings

Second (replacement) unit did the same so that's it, its going back!

So, RA Nav? Snooper Indago? Tom Tom ?

Whats the consensus???

It's not the best of the best, but is certainly well up there before you consider the cost.

I'm a big fan of them, as they are small and reliable, while cheap enough to have one per car.

If they drop in price again and you can do the £93 deal some of us got with Comet, you'll be laughing.

I was about to buy a Tom Tom but have been advised that the Garmin Nuvi 350 is now top of the pile. I really need full European sat nav and camera sites. Trouble is this unit is really expensive at the moment.

Worth waiting??

Personal Computer World have a group test of 10 SATNAV units:

Bluemedia BM6380 - 2 stars
Evesham Navcam 7000 - 2 stars
Garmin i3 - 4 stars (recommended)
Magellan 300 - 3 stars
Medion PNA350 - 2 stars
Mio 268 - 3 stars
Navman ICN520 - 2 stars
Novogo A30 - 4 stars (recommended)
Viamichelin - 3 stars
TomTom One - 4 stars (Editors Choice)

Garmin was complimented on most aspects but ease of use was criticised. However reckoned to be good value for money (at £179!).

But Tom Tom One reckoned to be best all rounder with only criticism being cost of European maps and traffic info service.

In effect, yes, since those that don't have as standard can be loaded with relevant Point Of Interest databases for scameras.

It's got to be TomTom!
The Garmin is stupidly Small, not what you want when driving!
And don't you have to use a silly roller to input everything?

I got a Garmin I3 last week. I was indeed sceptical about the small size, however as I would need to wear glasses to see any of these units clearly, the small size is not a problem. I've used it on my Motorbike, and my cars, and I must say I'm very impressed so far. I'ts just so small and portable. That'll do for me.
Cheers

How easy and where is a camera database available for the Garmin I3?

Is the camera database up to date?

It appeals also for its small size .... but not sure about with a pug windscreen if it needs an external ariel? (TT's seem better reception?).

So Personel Computer World awards 3 stars to the Mio 268. Ha! I have a Mio 168 & its complete rubbish. With the top down on my Convertible & the sun up the screen is unreadable & the instructions inaudible. In addition the teeth of the plug in socket broke within 3 weeks & took 3 months to replace (eventually by the retailer & NOT the manufacturer) A complete waste of money. I would´nt touch a Mio with a ten foot barge pole.
