Even though I specifically asked the question, and was told it had, I'm guessing you can't use an earpiece with these things? Handy for my bike! Also, anyone know why the f***** thing can't find any satellites???!!!

Apart from that, i'm really pleased with it!

Cheers.

Don't worry....Turns out that for a mere £50 they'll supply it for me...and just read that it doesn't work in the office (in a basement!!)

You don't need to have the voice instruction on the bike chilli. Just use the screen.

I don't have an earpiece (I never use the voice commands in the car either, I have it switched off) and I got to the middle of France and back last year without missing a single turning just by following the instructions on screen. And that included a trip aorund the Pariferique in morning rush hour too.

Don't pay the extra 50 quid, really not worth it.

Sorry mate.....Too late, bought it last night!!! Anyways, Ican't take me eyes off the road long enough to read the speedo, so no chance with the Quest....Which, by the way, I'm not too happy with. Can you believe that it can't find where I work, and doesn't think my home address exists!!

You are most probably entitled to a free map upgrade, what version maps are you running? That may cure your problem.

If you bought the Quest after 1 Jan 06 and have registered it with Garmin then the latest Version 8 of Euro City Select can be yours for free. Ver 8 just been released and will/does have Post Code Recognition/Search (at last !!).

Cheers

Yeah, I've been told that I'm eligable for the free upgrade to V8, but has anyone tried ringing Garmin....Jesus, I've spent over half an hour on hold, loads of times. Sent them an email and still no joy....Still, the cradle has arrived!!

Yes, they're brilliant. Better than TomTom, without doubt.

Chilli, have you tried all the numbers on Garmin UK's website? It can take a while to get through, but they're very thorough and helpful once you are.

Yeah, I have spoken to someone, and you're right they are very helpful.... Just not sure about the quest. Bought it specifically cause I'm going to France/Spain in June...but when I tried to load France up, it told me I only had 256mb of memory, whereas I needed 1.2gb. GREAT.

Yeah, it will, you have to be selective about where you are going and place the detailed maps accordingly. I mean, you aren't going to be covering the entirity of France, are you?
So, just put in the route maps (areas) that you plan on driving/riding on. Same with Spain. And remove the UK maps as, I'm assuming, you'll know your way to the Ferry/Chunnel!

I had to do that when I went to France last year. I used it to drive back up from Spain too, although, I was in a car then and took my laptop with me to update it as I got into France. But if you know a basic route you plan on using it should be more than enough. The major roads are in there as standard anyway, its the detailed bits that you update (town centres, minor roads and hotel sites etc) The Quest 2 has more memory, but I doubt you'll get the entirity of France on there too!

Makes sense......Many thanks. However, my knowledge of France and Spain is prob better then England! Of course I know where I live and where I work. Where my family and friends live, but that's about all she wrote!!
