Our TomTom Go700 has finally stopped working. Weve been having problems for a while now with it sometimes taking 15mins to find a satelite when you switch it on at the start of a journey but we have just lived with it i guess.

Well yesterday, the screen started to flash and then it went off and i must say that im no longer impressed.

Im now off to do battle with the supplying outlet to see if they will exchange it because they say that they might have to send it away to TomTom.

We have had it since end of April.

Has anyone else owned one for so long, had similar problems and did they get it exchanged?

For anyone thats interested.
The retail outlet wouldnt exchange the unit as its got to be sent away to TomTom in the Netherlands for repair or exchange.
After speaking to TomTom direct, it all seems fairly straighforward and they are collecting it on Monday and they have a 10 day turnaround.

Fingers crossed eh?

glad to hear it - did they ever explain what the problem was at all?

Have always been a bit concerned about my TTG700 as I keep it in the car and I guess it may get a bit cold at night...

They probably just replaced all the innards and sent it back to you with your memory bits intact. Cheaper for them on average than 2-3 hours labour for a chap to probe and mess about with a soldering iron.

You crazy, apart from it probably getting stollen when you get back in you car and warm it up there is a very high risk of condensation forming inside, especially if the relative humidity is higher than normal!

it get's kept in a snug little understeat drawer - well out of sight, and although cold to touch has never got any condensation (neither has the in car AV kit??).

Still, driving to Meribel in 3 weeks time should see just how cold it likes things

Have you tried using the reset button underneath? Worked for mine when I had a 'hiccup' and didn't lose any data / info?
