I want to get a navigator which includes the speed camera locations. I had been thinking about a RA Navigator. However, a few comments on this forum were less than positive. So I took a look at the Tom Tom 300 with the additional speed camera package.

I will want to use the device in my (small) Elise and (bigger) Subaru Forester. So space is a consideration and I can't really be doing with separate boxes for each function.

Would appreciate any comparisons of the two products, or any other product which is better.

Also, does anyone know if any of the vendors intend to upload mobile camera details? I think each Police force has to publish them and although vague (like somewhere along the A123....) they would be useful.

Thanks,

Colin

I'm sure the PocketGPSWorld database (which you could use on the TomTom) has mobile sites in it - certainly highlights some spots that while empty at night, have laybys that could be used for a scamera van.

The RA Nav with the latest software update is pretty good.

Locations accurate - although the motorway VSL camera locations have been manually deleted as I was just fed up with all the alerts.

The green alert when driving at correct speed through camera rather just getting the red alert near a camera is good.

However value for money is debateable.

So I need to take a look at RA Nav and Snooper Indigo. I'll do that.

Anyone done the comparison before? Any views on moving them between cars? Or battery life?

Thanks

Ive just got a Navigator. You definately need the latest FUI update. Out of the box I was totally confused (probably didnt help that I didnt, and still havent, read the instructions ) but with the update it all became much easier to use. Have a problem with some of the postcode inputs (it cant find my house for some reason) and then today I had the speed reading 37mph when I was in fact doing 75mph and then 13mph when I was stationary? All back to normal after a reboot. Takes a few minutes to get a satellite lock sometimes, so I may need an external aerial?

Have you got a heated windscreen Nick? As those sometimes cause problems for GPS reception, in which case mounting an aerial under the back window would sort you out.

No heated screen, I checked with Audi. Its not picking up a lock at all today (in car or outside) so I called Blackspot and they're sending me out a replacement unit in the morning and a free external aerial just in case.

I have to say, Blackspot's customer care has been, in my case, very good

Indago has 3-4 hour battery life, plus cable for cigarette lighter socket.

Windscreen mount easy to use - I think you could buy a second one for the other car.
