Help needed with POIs for Tom Tom 700
Discussion
I got a free POI download with my Tom Tom Go 700, so I chose the speed camera option from the Tom Tom website. I've downloaded the file to my computer OK. How the **** do I get the camera POIs onto my Tom Tom?
For a start it's a zip file and I can't open it, or does it need opening? I connected the Tom Tom to my computer and could see the pair of hands icon in 'My Computer'.
There is a help page that tells you how to do it on Tom Tom's website, but if you ask me, it's waffle.
Do I need to put the CD ROM in to set it up? I did put it in with the Tom Tom device fitted and it couldn't find a driver. The 'hands icon' only shows up in 'My Computer' when the CD is in the drive.
I'm well confused. Why can't they make things simple?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.

I downloaded my free POI's as well - I went for the French Speed cameras option as I'm moving there next month. Anyway, are you on a PC or a Mac - I'm on a Mac but I think it's the same.
This is what you do according to TomTom's instructions, but it didn't work for me!!
You need to 'unzip' the file. On a Mac it will do it automatically, on a PC you might need something like WinZip. You'll end up with a folder with several files in it.
Make sure the TomTom is switched off. Connect the TomTom to the mains using the supplied adaptor and connect the TomTom to the computer via the USB cable. After a few moments the TomTom should appear as a hard disk. Copy the files you downloaded into the map folder. Eject the TomTom and disconnect from the PC. Start TomTom and go to POI management and switch on your new POI's.
That's how TomTom say it should be done. HOWEVER, having followed the instructions my TomTom won't progress from start up mode 'looking for a satelite' - seems to lock up and keep trying to restart. I had to rverse the procedure and delete the files I just copied to the TomTom and all is well again.
I've tried a few times and it doesn't seem to work for me - good luck.
