Not exactly SatNav but the closest forum I could find!

Has anyone got one of these? They look like quite a good idea, and at £89 almost too good to be true. I need it to run with a BlackBerry 7290...any feedback gratefully recieved!

Cheers

No flippin' use I know, but I have a Nokia bluetooth hands free and its cracking....

But that said, its worth checking what you want. I had a Pioneer Bluetooth stereo which was great but didnt auto-connect to the phone. You had to connect to it from the phone - though it would automatically connect on an incoming call.

The Nokia one is different - its fully automatic. It connects when you get in the car (detects ignition) and connect to the phone. No cocking around and nothing else needed. This is what I assumed a BT car kit would do - no hassle, just get in and drive and if you need to call, just press the button and speak the name....

So worth double checking what you want and what is supported with your phone etc. Also, is this the one that you use your stereo speakers with it? If so then you need to have an ISO connector for your headunit, or get an expensive adaptor cable to support the Parrot setup. If its just a plug-in-the-lighter-socket type then its not a problem obviously...

Just looking into these too. How easy do you think they are to install? I could see running the cable for the mike being a bit of a pain.

I have heard they are very good, not sure what model but they sinc with your phone whenever you get in the car and work though the radio.
However I think that any use of phones in cars should be banned

I installed a PArrott 3100 in my brother's car. Works very well.

I'm about to install a Noka kit (the one with just a little button/dial) in our Golf. I expect it will be great too. They're pretty easy to install and work best if you get the cable to allow stereo muting/speaker use.

I got one, excellent bit of kit. Stores all contacts from phone, voice dials, very good mic.

Fully recommend one, best car kit I've ever had.

(No I don't work them, or sell 'em!!laugh)

Cheers

I've got one as well. Installed about 15 months ago. Brilliant piece of kit for receiving calls and making calls using the phone book. Not sure if it is my fault but it does not record recent calls and it is not straightforward to access voicemail.

Arcbeer I was the original poster before a chnage of car from teh 156 forced a change of name!

Mic lead is easy, howeevr go for the 3200LS rather than the 3100, it just looks a lot cooler and is really easy to use.

Many thanks. Does it come with all the necessary cabling? Easy to connect to the Stereo? I'd be the first to admit I'm not the world's best handy-man.

Depends if your stereo has ISO connectors, if not then get an adaptor from the place you buy the car kit.

Quite right six pack, with the ISO connectors it really is a piece of p!ss.

The trickiest bit is squeezing you hands up behind the dash to route the cables...I actually fitted mine in the dark using the interior light and a small torch in about 45 mins.

I've had parrot kits on and off for several years now and found them generally very good, do be aware though that when you get a new phone, particulary if its the "latest phone" it might have problems working with the parrot and you might have to flash the latest firmware upgrade to it via a bluetooth laptop which is a right performance, also parrots support is pretty grim and I've normally found myself trawling the tinterweb for upgrades and info etc.

Just to say thanks for the advice. I installed a CK3100 yesterday. It was very simple with the additional ISO converter cable I'd purchased, there was even a nice bit of space behind the stereo to put the blue box. I haven't got round to setting up the voice recognition yet but the pairing works well.

For those cars with factory fit head-units, you can get adaptor kits for Parrot, but also look at Autoleads for mute and integration stuff. Recently fitted a setup to my Volvo and it works great.

www.autoleads.co.uk/index.html

You still need a car kit (mine is a Nokia) but works well.... worth keeping note as they also do iPod stuff too.

Another vote for Parrot here, although it sincs up well with my Blackbeery Pearl, it wouldn't transfer the phone book with my previous Blackberry, might be worth checking

First problem encountered. When the headlights are on all the lights go off on the stereo display. After a little research I'm guessing I may need to swap the orange and red power leads?

Swapping red and orange lead results in the "Goodbye" message appearing correctly but has not fixed the stereo button back lights problem. The chap I bought the interface lead off has recommended I follow the 12V wire through the conversion and rewire it into the correct pin. He said there were a few makes of cars where this had to be done, Subaru Legacy being one. Hmmmmmmmm. Anyone else out there with a 2004 Legacy and Parrot kit?
