I've got an American nav system in my car which can do some very clever things in the US but not in the UK.

So who knows what Sirus satellite radio is and how to rig it up here?

Or how about using sub carrier FM frequency for traffic updates in the UK?

Err, not sure what you mean - satnav is satnav is satnav. If you can get the UK / Euro maps for it then it will do the same in the USA as here - I would assume...

Ah, as usual the US decides that standards are to be ignored and that they need their own. While the rest of the world (well Ok, mainly the UK and Euro zones) make use of the DVB standard for audio broadcast, the US decides that satellite is the way forward - hence Sirus.

So, to answer your question, Sirus is available in the US only. The broadcast from the satellites is over mainland USA only and is not available elsewhere in the world. If you want high quality radio broadcasts then get a DVB audio system (or Revo add-on).

Already been done - its called TMC and is available throughout Europe as the single source for traffic and road network condition. You need to have a satnav system that has a TMC receiver to get it though. That said, there are plenty of other options - such as TrafficMaster which is arguably more accurate and better quality.
