What are they like for navigating in London, especially the TTOne and TT300 units?

Not sure (as I've got the TT500), but mine's fine and I'm pretty sure the 300 has the same UK map as mine. It knows all about the one way streets I've come across, but I've not taken it into central London.

Maps are all the same.

Only problem you will encounter is road alterations since your software was issued.

Anybody visiting Sheffield will find one way traffic heading towards him on many roads...!

I've got the 300, took me right into the centre and out with no errors - brilliant

Only things to be aware of is that TfL keeps changing the road layout and hence its almost impossible for a satnav vendor / map supplier to keep up. So as accurate as they are, if they change the road then its not brilliant - that said though, it re-routes well so shouldnt be a problem.

I used to have an early GPS receiver for my TomTom on a PDA - generally it was good but was thrown off when it was obscured by buildings or trees. I remember one instance driving down Bank and loosing all GPS signals!!!! Nightmare as I genuinely didnt know where I was going! That said, I now have a current generation SiRF 2 set and it keeps lock almost permanent in the last 12 months. All TomTom Go devices (one, 300 etc) use this I believe so locking on even when surrounded by buildings should not be a problem. Only thing to be aware of is that it might be a little harder to start from a surrounded position (initial lock from being switched off). If thats the case, just get to somewhere it is a little more open and it should be fine. Lock on a current gen TomTom device is about 10-30 seconds on average so its hardly a long time!
