Sorry if this has been asked before but i've been thinking of getting a pda/sat nav system for a while now and my better half has offered to buy me one for xmas but i don't know which one to tell her to get me idealy the cheaper the better. I don't need somting with loads of features just somthing that will stop me getting lost and be able store/read ms office files (and maybe a game or 2 )

Certainly go for something with the GPS antenna built in, as this saves you worrying about a Bluetooth "mouse" or other external aerials and makes your dash tidier.

HP do a top of the range, GPRS phone and all bit of (hw6515) kit, but that's way OTT and costs £450, you'd probably be better off with some simple like the Acer N35 unit, at £230 from Comet it comes with the aerial built in and software (Destinator I beleive) included

But, if you don't really need to play games and do office stuff, I'd recommend a dedicated unit, as in my experience (having gone from a dedicated Garmin to a PDA, not going back to dedicated) they work more reliably and are easier to use when hooning around at high speed (after all to you trust Windows on your desktop/laptop, so why trust it in your car!), having dedicated buttons and touch screens.

Garmin, Tom Tom and NavMan do a few boxes sub £250 which are rather good.
