I'll shortly be transiting through Singapore, and will have a day or so to kill.

Can I pick up a Tom Tom or similar, that will work here? I know they're GPS based, but no doubt I'll need UK/Euro mapping, but will I save any cash?

Not sure you could get one over there, even if you could it wouldn't likely have the UK maps built in - could well be wrong though not having been to Singapore.

You're more likely to see a Garmin or Navman unit thouggh, which you can always downloads camera sites to as POIs.

You'll save a ton of cash. 'Tech is MUCH cheaper out in Singapore. And what's more you can claim back the local equivalent of VAT at the airport. It's up to you whether you declare the goods at UK Customs, but they do not talk to each other so the two do not go together.

Sun City is where all the tourists go to get cheap 'tech and enjoy a good haggle, but if you want to cut out the haggling and get good prices straight off then Holland Village is far better.

Many products come with International Warranty, so I wouldn't be too worried about buying abroad.
