Just spotted a poster in the window of the local Woolworths store for this at £279.99, also now shown on their website. Looks like it is now available, anyone got one or tried one yet and have you any comments about it?

Just ordered one from the only site I saw on Monday that mentioned it and now the world and its mother seems to be advertising them.

As I understand it:

Smaller so easier to store or carry out of the car.

Better chip set for keeping track of sats. Simpler mount. Separate charger and plugs straight into the unit rather than the mount.

Same software. Maps as per the GO 300 - no Euro stuff included.

Bluetooth connectivity for TomTom additional services - traffic and stuff.

Down sides.

No mention of a case (no big deal), smaller battery with capacity reduced from 4hrs to 2 hrs (also no big deal for me), smaller speaker with less power but that is unlikely to be a problem either for most uses.

Like the 300 it is not equipped to be a hands free phone device. Not a big deal either I would imagine for most people.

With all the revised street prices around the GO 300 is on offer for about 30 quid more but with 2 mounting kits. Could be attractive and creates a price differential to the 500, though the prices on that are coming down as well. The 700 now looks like much better value than it was BUT not in the same area of the market as the ONE.

I was told they were expecting stock on Monday so should get it for the weekend (daughter has borrowed my 500 for a week and now I may need something for this weekend) but I am beginning to think that is a little optimistic. As of this morning (Tuesday) still no stock

Oh well, if it snows I won't need it anyway!
