Search turned up nothing so I ask the oracle.

After adding POI's for scameras and finding a camera warning voice file to replace the standard pings bongs and bells, I find that there's no space left on my 120meg SD card.

Can I simply buy a bigger blank SD card and transfer the files?

Hi Bob...really sorry but I can't help you on the full memory card problem. But could you tell me where you downloaded the POI camera locations from and is it easy to download them onto the tom tom (I'm not that switched on with the PC).

Cheers Phil

From here. A Google search turns up several other useful POI's

In answer to your original question yes you can copy the files over to a new SD card.

However when I did this it asked me for a code.

So I had to register on the Tom Tom site which then asked me for my serial number (This can be found on the original box or on the back of the CD software)This then generates the code which has to be input into the unit.

It could be wise to generate this code and write it down before sorting out the new SD card.

Good luck

I bought a 512mb card from a local camera shop. I then copied all the files off the old card including their directories onto my PC hard drive (Don't use TOMTOM backup, it doesn't copy all the files). Once done I replaced the SD card for the new blank card and copied everything back across. It really was as simple as that, no special code needed.

You should note that TOMTOM have just launched a new UK map. See my other thread.

If you happen to have an SD capable card reader, or perhaps a digital camera that uses an SD card, you should be able to connect both devices to a computer at the same time and simply copy over.

The other trick to create space on a card is simply to delete all the voices (and languages) you will never use ... frees up quite a lot.

SD cards available all over the place but the best prices tend to be on the net. 256Mb for about a tenner a few weeks ago, 512Mb for about 17 or 18 notes.

Not trying, I got a couple of 1Gb cards for about £25 each.

And yes, as posted, just copy the files over to your PC then copy them onto the new card. 'tis but bits and bytes my friend.
