Does either theAA.com website or the TomTomGo sat nav software take into account the time of day when a route is planned, to give the most accurate approximate arrival times? Im guessing both should, and probably do...?

I think the blurb in the small print on the AA site refers to the time being based on travel at off-peak times.

They most definitely do not - I think that generally these tools base it on an average speed of 60mph on motorway and 30mph off motorway.

Add a little common sense when you get the information

Ive got a GPS doodah, but have never experimented to establish whether or not they sport time sensitive intelligence. If not now, its just a matter of time.

Hi Bob,

I run a courier firm and for anywhere in the country over a reasonable distance it always has worked out about a mile a min, so 60 miles per hour. It does not seem matter if you are in your Cerb or a diesel van it always seems to work out this way over a distance. (But not the same if its 2 A.M in the morning on a empty motorway)

I found the tom tom to be incredibly accurate, whatever the traffic and roads are like. Uncannily so! Push it a bit, and you can shave the minutes off nicely.
