What do I need to buy - towbar isolation needed (switchable)
Discussion
A very small query if someone can help me?
The XC70 bus has a towbar kit fitted, which was identified as the largest culprit to a parasitic drain that was flattening the battery (car has been doing very few miles)
The power feed was simply snipped (least cost, most expedient route, given I don't use the 'bar) and the problem went away. I'm just about to sell the car so I'd like to reconnect, and in an ideal world I'd like to insert a connector that is switchable, so any drain could be eliminated, but it would be easy to power up the 'bar when needed. Simple push-to-fit connection preferred, but I'll strip wires if needed
What do I need to order please?

Where is the wire, inside the car or exposed to the elements? Determines what kind of switch is needed.
Also was it the actual power feed for the lights or the feed to the bypass relay (that I think switches the feed to the lights). It draws current so may have been the source of your parasitic drain.
So you either need a switch rated at 15A or a titchy tiny one for the relay. And I assume this is in the car so doesn't need to be super dooper waterproof

To finish the story, I fitted the switch but the towbar unit was screaming when it was toggled live, so it seemed that there was a fault in there. Purchaser was very graceful about it, recognising that I hadn't ever used it, and didn't warrant it in any way. He was going to get someone local to sort it out. I gave him a lightboard and a spare tyre and everyone parted happy
