PDA - Signal strength bars

I'm sat at my desk and my PDA's sat in it's little cradle, charging and active synching, but it's not moving anywhere.

So...does anybody know why my signal strength indicators, fluctuate from 2 bars to 4 bars to 3 bars etc etc.

I would think it is most likely general atmospheric changes. Cloud cover, static energy etc etc will all affect the signal strength.

I wouldnt read too much into the signal strength bars though, I think they are more like a guide than anything. TomTom software etc will provide an actual figure for signal strength/satellite connections. (as will, im sure, other bespoke pda software)
