Morning all.

I've recently bought a 2014 Insignia estate (it's a Limited Edition, don't judge! biggrin)

It has a few toys but the head unit / sound system is shocking. I can connect to it and stream spotify with no worries but the interface is a nightmare and i'm spoiled by my Audi's CarPlay flexing.

The main reason i'm considering this is that the microphone / audio setup for calls is beyond useless. I can hear people OK allbeit with a rather harsh tone but noone can hear me. They say it's broken up, inaudible and i need that resolved.

I've got this on my watch list: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/257261708038

Seems fairly plug and play and i don't mind getting stuck in. THere are clear instructions and as far as i can make out i'm not cutting / splicing wires for any of it to work. What i will lose is the native buttons on the head unit for media, menu etc but that i believe is all covered with the CarPlay implementation.

Thoughts? Anyone did anything similar to an older car?

I purchased something similar for my Audi tt mk2 2 years ago

Sounds good and having CarPlay is so much better, and reasonably Oem looking but two issues I had with mine.

1: radio is really bad, not an issue as I can stream radio from the phone

2: hands free on mine is poor, even with a dedicated mic. I’d assumed as a modern unit it would have latest Bluetooth, but nope and so when I do use it I revert to AirPods.

So worth checking which Bluetooth version this one has to make sure it’s good, 5.2 or higher if I remember correctly

Good shout on the Bluetooth version. Hadn’t thought of that.

These Chinese units never have DAB as far as I’m aware.
