TOM TOM 700 in Europe
Discussion
Anyone got experience of Tom Tom 700 and journies across the continent ?? Going to use it to do the Italian Job http://www.italianjob.com/ in a few weeks . Although we have done this event for 5 previous years and got lost very little using maps , we're hoping Tom Tom will take some of the strain , especially in cites ie Rome and Paris .

Just used Tomtom 5 on my Orange SPV M500. Drove 2300 miles through France, Monaco, Italy, Switzerland, Liechenstein and Germany.
We used national maps of France, Italy and Germany and also Major Roads of Europe.
Only hiccup was that it kept crashing in Munich as we tried to find our friends - and TomTom was all we had!
Around Italy in particular it was spot on

Bought mine specifically for Eurohoon - it was almost faultless - there were a few slight detours which were corrected by resetting the destination, and of course the mapping is a little out of date compared to some new roads, but other than that, it was great.
The most important thing was that it navigated correctly and accurately to each destination, which is what you need in the end. The itinerary planning is a bit long-winded, as you cannot specify road junctions or grid references as waypoints, so browsing the map to set waypoints is the best way.
It also significantly out-performed a PDA sat-nav which was using the same software.

Well apart from a few minor glitches , like trying to take us the direct route through the centre of Paris rather than on the perifique and a couple of signal losses in the Alps it was amazing , Took us to the door of our hotels in Frankfurt, Verona, Imola Rome,Venice, Beune and Paris as we travelled in our minis on the Italian Job
