Wireless Phone Charger?
Discussion
Howdy folks,
I'm looking for a combined dash vent phone mount with wireless charging as my phone is getting a bit tired and USB cables won't stay connected when used with my Kenu Airframe.
A quick Google suggests lots of options but no clear idea what's good and what isn't - any ideas?
Will be used with a Sony Xperia and will need standard USB connectivity as my BT Adapter will be plugged into the same 12V socket.

I can't help - but you might want to check charging rates with a wireless rather than cabled connection.
I do some wireless charging at home and it's considerably slower when compared to cables - in a car, this could be a pain. However there are powerful and less powerful flavours - so do check.
As a comparison, most wireless is around 15W (or lower) and cables can be 30W.

Vent mounts are not very secure or rigid. I'd recommend a Brodit which comes in 2 parts, one specific to your car and one specific to your phone

What car is it for?
If you have a look on Aliexpress, there are sometimes reasonably high quality "custom fit" wireless chargers that you can hardwire.
Especially for more recent models, there's usually ones that fit where the OEM wireless charger would / should have been but are £30 rather than a £500 option

Cheers folks, it's for a 1 Series Coupé, so E82 in BMW speak. Quite comfortable with the fact that wireless charging is much slower, however with a 2.5 year old phone and the known issue with USB-C ports a wired charger won't stay seated any more, despite many attempts to fix with a toothpick and ColourCoral Dust Cleaner.
I've had Brodits in the past and they are fantastically made bits of kit, however I'll be getting a new phone in the new year so was hoping for something a little more temporary.
Will look at the Quad Lock stuff as that looks interesting.
Other option is I still have the phone plumbing in the armrest - I was looking to remove this at some point, could replace it with a wireless charging pad?

Have you tried cleaning the fluff out of the usb port on your phone with a needle?
Yep - well toothpicks and some gloopy keyboard cleaner I have. Charger will now stay seated if it on a desk, falls out straight away in the car tho. Gassing Station | In-Car Electronics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
