One thing that my TTG700 doesn’t do is give me stats on the journey I have completed. It strikes me that all they would need to do is add a stopwatch and upgrade the software and it would double up as a pretty good trip computer.

It can already measure your speed and knows how far you have travelled so if it retained the start and end time of a journey it could work out average speed and min/max speed. You could even funky stuff such as a graph of speed over the journey do an overlay of speed on a map.

Does anyone do a satnav like this?

TT5 Navigator for the PPC does have this feature, although it's not shown on any of the menu's. I think it's tucked away under the GPS settings, something like "create log file". Your GO might also have this.

I had a GPS V before my current Tomtom. It did indeed have have a great tracking/trip computer feature. The unit would display top/average speed and distance etc but the fun was when you downloaded the date back to the pc. It would overlay on the Mapsource maps that came with it giving speed/time of day and I belive altitude at all points on the journey. Scary in the wrong hands !! There is only about 19mb of memory though so the amount of info is finite.

On the Tomtom pda systems you can set it to record the journey and play it back on the screen as a sort of demo..not as much fun as the Garmin though imho.

Clarion SAT Nav does top speeds, average, longest travel and more interestingly, standing 1/4 mile ! But its a "full system" ie, needs a head unit with display, in my case its a touch screen with DVD player and you then add whatever you want,DAB,DVD autochanger,TV etc. Having plugged Clarion, i am sure all the "full systems" do the same.

My Garmin Quest gives all this type of info.
Speed, Average speed, time moving, time stopped etc.

Why do people keep buying TTG? Their PR machine must be so much better than Garmin. Yet their product is shit compared to it... Its people buying the latest trendy gismo, like bloody ipods, when better equipment is on the market, for less money!

I've got TT5 on my PPC - I can't find this anywhere.

Anyone know?

It only worked with the TT3 GPS driver, a clean install of TT5 doesn't have it.
