Interesting experience coming back from Le Mans that got me thinking. Left Eurotunnel in Folkestone and Waze told me I had 89 miles to get home, which oddly enough would've put me on 3k miles on the dot once I pulled into the garage. Normally I don't think to try to keep track of these things but because of the on the nose finishing number I noticed it. Getting home though, odometer showed 3,003 miles which got me thinking. Is 3 miles of lane changes normal over a 90 mile drive? Is waze underestimating mileage? Is the car overreporting? I took the exact route shown and didn't pull into services etc, just a one hit drive home.

What kind of experiences have you had?

Publicly accessible GPS isn't 100% accurate though + three miles over a 90 mile distance seems excessive. I've often mapped routes on-line and it's not often they agree with the actual distance using an in-car GPS odometer app. Over 120-140 miles the difference might be up to half a mile.
