I would like a rear view camera for my LWB camper (solid rear doors as it has a garage)

All the ones I've seen only flick to a rear view camera occasionally. I want a full view, all the time of what's behind me on the road plus the ability to look close behind me when reversing

Whether that means two cameras or the ability to zoom on one

I don't care whether it's mounted in a rear view mirror or on a separate screen

I don't think I need the ability to record

Any suggestions ?

You can buy rear view units for horseboxes and camper vans with dual cameras - one looking down at the bumper and one acting as a normal rear view, but some of these tend to be bulky and unsightly.

Newer vans such as the Transit have live view:

If it were me, I'd have 2 cameras, one by the numberplate giving parking cover, and one mounted up high or in the door for live rear view. Certainly the new Transit Custom has the camera embedded in the rear door window panel:

My daughter has a wolfbox

https://www.amazon.co.uk/WOLFBOX-Rearview-Cameras-...

Can see front or rear, or split screen for both

Bought direct rather than via Amazon

Simple to fit and she’s happy with it

I bought one of these as my rear view is obscured by a dog crate.

It works very well, the 'mirror' is touch-screen and can be used to view front or rear cameras, which you can switch between, and also view recorded footage.

The only down side is that, as I wear glasses to read, I had issues with focussing.

It never occurred to me that looking at a camera screen view behind the car would be different to the image reflected by a mirror, but I found it unusable.

Its a great device, just not if you wear reading glasses! Now removed from the car and on back in its box in the garage!

That never occurred to me either - presumably a screen issue ?

It’s not a screen issue, it’s a fixed focal point issue. A mirror allows you to use your eyes to focus on whatever you want that’s reflected. A screen with a camera feed is a fixed focal length, which can really play with your depth perception and overall usability.

The same goes for electronic wing mirrors like those in the Full Fat Audi E-Tron. Look funky, awful to use.
