Does a car with Apple play(or android version) mean you could then use the in-car infotainment screen to display google maps/Waze from your phone to use as satellite navigation?
Also would it allow you to browse your own music or whatever stored on the phone? I use iplayer downloads and have to pull over to select the next one I want if one finishes.
Thanks all

Yes, that’s exactly what they do.
You can use Waze, Google or Apple Maps or whatever other map works with CarPlay.
You can use Spotify, Apple Music, audible, tune in radio, tidal - whatever works. Or you can use the car radio/dab and have the screen showing Waze.
I won’t have a car that either hasn’t got or cannot be properly (ie not a stuck on screen) fitted with CarPlay.
I’ve just bought a 2012 C class for general daily driving and I bought a Car ABC CarPlay box to go in place of the Becker Map Pilot that plugs in the glovebox. It’s brilliant.
