Reversing camera

Fitted a reverse camera to an after market android auto head unit. All works apart from after taking the car out of reverse, the reverse light is illuminated dimly and the head unit screen blank for around 20 secs. The reverse light then goes out and the screen display returns. Any ideas what's causing this? Thanks
