Adding a CD player to Motorhome
Discussion
Recently took delivery of a Ford Transit based motorhome, a Chausson 733 and it's pretty good. Apart from the sound system. As is common with most vehicles now it doesn't have a CD player, instead the sales guy and tech guy at the dealer tell me I've got to download my 125 or so CD's on to a memory stick. No chance of me spending the hours and hours needed to do that whilst I've already got the CD's.
The fitted nav/radio system is an XCENT X Map27 and I've bought a separate CD player from auntie Google and whilst it plugs in it doesn't play, all I get on the screen is "Audio only", and nothing works. Looking on Google it seems I need some form of emulation module. But I can't find one in UK. They're available in USA for around €400 but then there's shipping and customs etc and what if it doesn't work?
So, the Q is, can anybody point me in the right direction of what I need? I don't have Apple play but do have an Android phone.
Help please.
TIA

Really doesn't take that effort to rip your CDs. Just set the drive to eject when finished, and each time you notice it sticking out, chuck the next one in. Then when it's done, it's done forever and you'll not be frustrated by every vehicle you ever buy in the future not having a player (and all the other stuff that used to use CDs/DVDs but no longer does). And it's cheap. You can even sell the CDs afterwards.
Whilst I can appreciate certain old things, you really are making your life way harder and missing out on a lot by refusing to update the way you listen to music.
Unless you're listening to weird nose flute albums all of your music is probably already on YouTube music, just stream that from your phone to your radio.

I've put this Q on three forums and you're all saying the same. It's me that's wrong. So I,ll give ripping a go and see what happens. Thanks all.
The only other quick and cheap way I can think off is to get an old portable discman type cd player and use one of those FM radio adaptors. It'll sound awful though. It's probably worth either spending the time ripping them or getting a Spotify subscription.

Just get some kid you know to download them all. Will take him as long as it takes you to tell him the album names. They will probably be in better quality than the CDs too if he downloads them.ColinM50 said:

Apart from the very first reply you received....You just need to remove the Xzent unit and replace with something compatible with CDs. Either a unit with a built in CD player or one that has an analogue input.

I recommend CDex https://cdex.mu/ It can rip a CD much faster than playing it to listen to, and IIRC it adds all the Artist/Track info.Gassing Station | In-Car Electronics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
