Hello
I'm new to the forum so apols if posting in the wrong place...
I have a 2011 Toyota Auris with a gearbox that is auto, but not fully. It has a robot thingy that changes gears, rather than a fully auto gearbox.
Lately, and particularly if I haven't used the car for a couple of days, when I try and move out of N it won't do it.
Today I managed to get it to show E ( drive) on the screen ...and it reversed! So, it's sat in my driveway and I can't go anywhere.
Before I call someone to take it away for scrap I thought someone here might have some idea what might be wrong.
It's like the signal to the gearbox is getting confused, so j thought it could be an electrical fault, rather than the gearbox being kaput.
Grateful for any ideas, thanks.

If you’re on Facebook, you’re better off searching for Toyota auris uk groups. Join then ask there, if it’s a known fault they will likely know straight away and be able to offer fix/cost ideas.

Good luck!

The MIL has one of these and it was driving like crap (well, worse than usual, it was always an awful gearbox) until it had a fluid change.

Thanks, I'm not on Facebook but have been googling.
I don't think my car has fluid for the gearbox as it's semi- auto. It normally drives ery nicely!

The MILs is MMT, the automated semi-auto. It still has gearbox oil.

Ah, I see, ok thanks. So the gearbox oil, is that different from transmission fluid? My mechanic ( on the phone) told me the car doesn't have transmission fluid so I assumed was the same thing.
