Air-cooled 911 security systems
Discussion
What’s the best immobiliser for a classic 911 (RennSport backdate - originally 1987).
It seems that most alarm/immobiliser companies now focus on cars that have keyless-go and ‘grabbable’ frequency systems. But what’s the best immobiliser system available today for an older ‘analogue’ car?
Thanks

Do you need it for insurance purposes?
If not, the old "secret switch" in the +ve feed to the starter motor (or +ve to the coil, but if you ever knock that while driving, you've just turned your engine off) is still simple, effective and far more unlikely to pack up than... well, pretty much every aftermarket alarm/immobiliser that was ever fitted to a car I had from that era.

The best security for any car is the satellite / mobile tracker. You want a chance of getting it back if it is taken.
I used to install Toad alarm systems to my classic cars. Seemed a bit more honest compared with the Clifford stuff which seems prone to breakdowns: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155669411553

Except anyone who is going out to steal pretty much any car these days will have some kind of jammer.See https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Personally I agree that some kind of obfuscated electronic cut-off would be useful, either on the fuel pump fuse or similar.... I don't think trackers add much, to be honest, but if you're particularly attached to the car then there is no harm in installing one.
