Double din head unit recommendations
Discussion
Hi All
I am looking for a decent double din head unit to go into my Toyota Campervan.
I don’t have steering controls (though could add them), I would like a touch screen, DAB, my phone is Android, it must have Bluetooth and looking to hook up a reversing camera to the unit.
I have a budget of around £350, maybe more for the correct one.
Any recommendations?
Thanks.

The Pioneer SPH-DA250DAB gets good reviews and sells lots of units. I would have bought one, except its a full depth unit so not as easy to install if space is tight. I ended up with an Alpine ILX-W690D which is a short unit, but has the option of adding an amp to the back creating a full depth unit if space is available.
Personally I would ensure whatever you get has a capacitive screen for ease of use. Resistive screens need some pressure to work.

Here are a few double din head units that meet your criteria within your budget:
Pioneer AVH-Z5250BT: Supports Android, DAB, Bluetooth, touch screen and reversing camera.
Sony XAV-AX5000: Supports Android, DAB, Bluetooth, touch screen and reversing camera.
JVC KD-X560BT: Supports DAB, Bluetooth, touch screen and reversing camera.
Kenwood DDX5706S: Supports Android, DAB, Bluetooth, touch screen and reversing camera.
You can find more options by checking online retailers or consumer electronics stores. Keep in mind that some models may vary in price based on your location.

With apologies for jumping into this (very helpful) thread - any idea if these units will work with steering wheel controls (same Toyota model) ? Understand a separate adaptor can generally be utilised ?Pioneer AVH-Z5250BT: Supports Android, DAB, Bluetooth, touch screen and reversing camera.

I’m taking for granted that Android support also means CarPlay likely to be installed as well (but will check on the links).
The xtrons unit do what you've asked, and I believe should work with your steering wheel controls;

If you google it, there are a few people who have done installs into campers.

I installed a Pioneer SPH into a MK1 MR2 last year. I took it out again because it was touchscreen only, and it was too far away from my eyeline to be safe to use. I've just bought a Sony XAV AX1005DAB to replace it because it's the only one I could find with a rotary volume control.
Just something to consider if you hadn't already.
