Car Audio upgrade - want more bass!
Discussion
My new KIA EV6 is great but the Meridian premium 14 speaker system to me lacks bass.
The sub in the boot floor is passive.
Can anyone recommend an audio installer near Surrey to discuss improving it?
I was wondering if boosting or replacing the sub might help?
I don’t want to replace the whole system as it’s quite integrated into the car.
The car is incredible in every other respect so worth paying to fix this for me.
Thank you for any advice/ recommendations

It is worthwhile doing. I have done this on a number of cars with integrated systems.
Easiest and cheapest method is to purchase a line output converter (with a remote turn on signal) to convert the speaker wire going in to the factory subwoofer to RCA leads that can then be plugged in to an aftermarket amplifier and subwoofer, or an active enclosure.
Aim for something putting out around 200-300wrms. You won't need anymore as the rest of the system won't be able to keep up.
I noticed this the other day...

...which is speaker, box and amplifier built in to one unit, at what is a very good price as it also includes the wiring kit.
Not "audiophile grade" but a cheap, easy solution for someone who just wants to add some bass.
If you are more into your sound quality and prepared to spend some £ there are other options that will sound nicer. But the same installation advice applies.

Thanks Matt,
yes it seems looking at the US KIA forum site, a number of owners there have fitted active subs and reported good results.
That sub might be a bit much and as the trunk power is 15A I would have to run another cable to the battery so I might look for something a bit more modest.
Thank you for the advice.

When you say trunk power, I am assuming that there is an outlet of some sort that you plan to feed the amp from?yes it seems looking at the US KIA forum site, a number of owners there have fitted active subs and reported good results.

15A would limit you to about 150 wrms.
I reckon this would be still a more than worthwhile upgrade, however, go for a subwoofer that has a high efficiency and look for a vented/ported box.
