Anyone recommend an adaptor that's not mega money.

The new Quad Lock one looked good for 79.99 and Black Friday 59.99seemed a bargain but having got it, it freezes and can't show waze etc, no live screen data just locks up.

Having looked around all but one VAG owner with 2019 Polo said they had the same issues, so I think it has a massive compatibility issue with VAG stuff.

I’ve been interested also (2017 Audi) - I did have an aftermarket CarPlay in my 2013 Mercedes that was wireless.

It was ok but had trouble reconnecting if you cycled the ignition , phone wouldn’t reconnect.

Also had a delay noticeable on phone calls - that might have been due to a second Bluetooth connection between the device and the car though.

The main reason I haven’t splurged is because my experience of wireless was that it hammered the battery, especially Waze.

Have you seen digidash? Goes one step further and is all encompassing android device that lets you use android apps / streaming etc - it has a wireless CarPlay feature too. More expensive though

I'm using one of these off Amazon in my SQ5 (I have wireless phone charging but not wireless CarPlay!)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09TSHCJNZ/ref...

The unit is good with no lag or dropout issues.

Another vote for the carlinkit dongle, I've had one for a couple of years and it's been stable.
I find rendering in software on the options gives smoother playback than hardware rending on the android headunit that I'm using.

I am not ordering a new one, with the dodgy infotainment!

For the sake of 60 quid I fancied it so I don't have to plug in each time.

I got the carlin one from amazon bf deal 65.99 works a treat.

Quad lock have sent me the ip address 192.168.50.2 and advanced setting> change bit rate to 6mp and resolution to 800 by 480 and it still freezes!

Did you get the 4.0 one or 3.0? 4.0 is £112 but has a £22 voucher currently - Certainly won't be paying that but if it comes down to £66 again I think I will.
