I drive a somewhat dated car and given the nature of my job, I drive all over the country to places I don't really know. My TomTom sat nav is invaluable, particularly the features such as lane guidance, speed camera alerts and generally being clear on instructions.

I'm looking to go for a 1 year old bmw or audi. How do the onboard sat navs compare and do I have the option of installing TomTom sat nav on to the onboard computer? It would save me having to stick it to the windscreen each day.

Depending on what vehicle you go for, most 1 year old vehicles have Apple Carplay or Android Auto as standard.

(Some BMWs don't have android auto but most Audi vehicles from 2017/18 onwards have both Apple Carplay and Android Auto). I'd recommend then using Waze, very user friendly and gives you live traffic so will reroute you if there's traffic ahead.

(Provided you have a smartphone with a data allowance)
