Dashcam Interference
Discussion
Hi guys.
Have a nextbase 322GW and rear camera being professionally installed soon.
Just want to know is it likely to cause interference with my DAB radio ? I have heard lots of reports that the higher end model 522GW can cause interference ( maybe because the rear camera runs at 1080p wheras the 322GW rear camera runs at 720p ) . However the 322GW seems to have no reports of issues but want to know if anyone has experiences with this model.
I know ferrite cores are an option. As is routing the rear cable away from the radio Aerial cables and mounting it on the trim rather than the rear windscreen
Thanks

The quality of power supply and power cable is the important factor in my experience, and if the camera was a cause there's not much you can do except get a different cam. Ferrite cores are a sticking plaster if you have a mild EMI problem.
I found this out when installing a rear cam; cheapo PSU that came with the camera was causing interference with the radio (aerial in rear windscreen, tuner in boot). I replaced it with something of decent quality (I think an Anker or Portapow USB power supply and cable) and the problem disappeared. Mrs D had a cheapo phone charger that caused radio interference, similar deal. Replaced with a decent quality one and no more issues.
ETA I realise you were asking for real world experience of a particular model but TBH a lot of people will fit an expensive camera with cheap eBay ancillaries and then blame the camera. You would hope a pro installer won't; indeed it's not in their interests as it's more work for them to rectify, plus they'll know the perils of EMI from cheapo eBay bits.
