Hi,

Anybody have any experience with ghost 2 immobilizers? They seem to come highly rated.

Just put a deposit down on a dream car purchase.

Been quoted £750 for a Ghost immobilizer and a Scorpion S5+ Tracker by an aftermarket security company.

Insurance wise it reduced my premium by.....£8.

However I'm considering it more for the peace of mind.

Any advice/tips/reviews folks?

I’ve had a Ghost on my BMW for almost 5 years.
Never had an issue and it’s now natural to press the required buttons before starting.
I have an auto so mine starts without the code but will cut the engine when drive is selected, this means I can have it warming up in my drive should I want to do so.
The valet mode is another safe guard should it go in the garage.

Thanks for the reply.

Mines also an auto, nice to know I can leave it started for the same reasons as you.

Just wondering if a tracker is required or not. It comes with an app which will tell you where the car is obviously, but also if somebody's trying to tow it.

500 for the ghost, or 750 with ghost and tracker. I opted for the latter as it's a keeper, and it will make me a little better I suppose

What happens if you stall a manual car? Have to faff around taking the key out?

Had mine fitted for a couple of months now. I was never told that if you forgot to enter the code and tried to start the car, it would throw an engine management light. This happened a few times and to be honest it pisses me off. It’ll throw a gearbox fault and the gearbox will operate with reduced performance until I clear the fault with my OBD reader.

I’ve just bought a Discovery 5 and had a ghost 2 fitted for 450£

It’s set up so the engine starts but dies if put in gear prior to the code being entered. Seems like a good system and have no regrets.

Haven’t got a tracker as i’m working on the hopeful assumption that they can’t move it..

It does have an air tag buried in it, but that was because i had one spare as opposed to buying it to be a tracker.
