Anyone on here have a lifetime subscription with Tracker?

I took one out almost 20 years ago so I've had my money's worth but trying to find out if anyone would have details of the lifetime subscription?

My Tracker needs replaced and they're trying to say the lifetime subscription is for the lifetime of the tracker unit therefore if I change the unit I need to take out a new subscription.

I thought I had some paperwork for it but can't lay my hands in it.

I was hoping the subscription was for the lifetime of the car / owner. (Not the box of electronics)

Our insurance have demanded trackers on most of our cars in recent years and they have all been three years with supplyand fitting, upgradable to five years at extra cost. That's across I think four different tracker companies.

Never seen or heard of anyone doing a lifetime subscription in the last five years. Car finance periods probably fuel those windows more than anything else.

Unless you have paperwork to say the contrary, I would expect this to be their model anyway tbf.

Can't put my hands on paperwork at the moment but found this thread where others have also mentioned "duration of ownership" and "as long as you own the car".

I've always understood that if it dies then it dies (i.e. lifetime of unit)...and everyone told me I was stupid to pay the £650 for it in 2008 as they stop working after 4 or 5 years.

However, it's still working (get calls when it's being moved around a garage workshop without the ignition on), and expect to have to pay to replace it at some point.

Will see if I can find any T&Cs from when I took it out.

ETA, can't see that specific phrase, but the FAQ in the booklet says there's an expected life span of 10 years...and warranty for 3...however, there is a bit detailing subscription types, and it lists an "Annual" and "One-Off Duration of Vehicle Ownership", no mention of "Lifetime of Unit".

None of my registration documents actually state that I've bought a 'Lifetime' subscription though...just says 'Tracker Monitor'.

That's perfect. Thanks very much.

Spoke to them today and they are going to honour my subscription if I pay £199 for the unit (Tracker Monitor which is normally £360 (iirc).

You did better than me then. I had this a couple of years ago with Tracker after taking out a lifetime subscription 16 years previously. They wanted the thick end of £400 to replace the unit. After some fairly unsavoury encounters with them ( they came across as pretty unprofessional on the phone ), I accepted a replacement at a reduced rate. Having cancelled a previous appointment to accommodate their fitter, they rang on the morning he was due and postponed.

I rang my ins. co., ascertained that my premium would raise by all of £20 annually if the tracker were not present and told Tracker to eff off. I have no faith whatsoever in them as a company, so no loss, and have taken other measures to locate the car should the worst happen.
