Help! Porsche + Old Pioneer HU = problems
Discussion
Hi all, hoping someone can help me out with my head unit woes!
I have a 2007 Cayman with a Pioneer SPH DA100 unit installed (it came with the car) and it’s recently become unresponsive.
Problem: when you turn the car on you’re met with this screen. All normal so far.. however, pressing the “ok” button on the touchscreen now has no response and therefore I can’t get through to the menu/no audio:
The problem has only started in the past few weeks. I can’t say the unit was ever particularly *good*… but it got the job done and quite frankly, I have no spare cash at the moment (a wedding to fund!) so it feels a bit lavish to chuck ~£400 at a replacement.
So far I have:
- removed the fuse: no joy
- disconnect / reconnect the battery: no joy
- removed the whole unit, pulled out every cable and replaced: no joy!
I guess the one positive to takeaway is that I’ve successfully taken a part of the car apart and - crucially - put it back together. That’s progress.
So, should I just write it off as “it’s a 10yr old piece of knackered tech, mate… get saving” or is there any magic I could try to save it?
