Autowatch Ghost2, still the best solution?
Discussion
Morning.
I used to have one of the early models of this product on my 911, I sold that about a year ago and haven't had a high value car since then; but am buying something nice next week so am taking a look at some extra security.
I know that no system makes a car 100% unstealable but is the Ghost still basically unhackable unless thieves actually find it and remove it?
My plan is Ghost and gap insurance and then just forget about it.
Thanks

You can cut any wire on the ghost and it won’t do it’s job. Not worth it. False sense of security once they locate the ghost and snip a wire. Unless this has now been addressed?!
Shove your keys in a faraday bag or key cradle box.
Agreed on GAP cover if you are on finance.
Also, in this day and age with manufacturers trying to wangle their way out of warranty claims even more, it might be an issue come warranty time. Ask any dealership and they will confirm it invalidates your electric warranty.
The fact that manufactures should be beefing up security is besides the point.

Not really 100% correct - cutting 'any' wire won't always disable the Ghost but like any security device (trackers included), once you find the device the game is a boggy. Shove your keys in a faraday bag or key cradle box.

The Ghost if installed correctly will never be found (it's why it's called 'Ghost'). It's difficult as installers for even us to find it if we haven't installed it. As an example we had a Focus RS MK3 in a few months back and we spent the best part of 3 hours looking for signs of where something was removed/fettled with to remove it for a customer that wanted it taken out before selling it. Good installers don't stick to the 'suggested areas' and this one was buried in the vehicle.
The thing to take away is when you pay the RRP for the Ghost installed, the installer will likely go all out for the best stealth installation. When you phone up someone and find someone offering to install it for £100 less than the chap down the road who is abiding by the RRP, they will undercut the price for you because they will undercut the time on the installation.
In terms of warranty, considering hundreds of Ghost installers fit them monthly at dealers, including ourselves doing brand new cars at BMW, Audi and Ford dealers before collection, they have the power to void any warranty, even if you installed a black box your insurance company requested or bluetooth parrot kit to allow handsfree. The warranty argument has been around since the days of CD players and never stopped anybody from installing devices that they want - the aftermarket industry would be dead and on it's knees if that was the case, which it isn't - it's booming.
