Morning all,

Hoping to pick up a first car for my daughter, fiat 500. However, the one we are looking at does not have Bluetooth or a USB connection. Anyone have any experience of having these retro fitted, apart from those awful cigarette port fm transmitter things. Where possible I am looking for one wired in to the back of the hifi. I believe it is doable on most modern radios.

Just change the head unit to a Bluetooth one. It will also allow you take and receive calls hands free...

You can get good cheap ones for around £100-150. Just keep an eye out for Offers on Halfords and the like....

Whilst I am sure that is the best solution, not sure she would want to ruin the look of the car. These fiat 500s are rather fitted looking and very girlie. I think that's what she wants.
Thanks though.

Depending upon the year of the car, does it have USB/BT connectivity via the Microsoft “Blue&Me” system that the 500s launched with?

Sadly not this model. That was on the higher spec 'lounge model. Although at the age we are looking at they often don't work anymore anyway.

Fit a ‘hidden’ cigarette lighter with a Bluetooth transmitter. Not ideal but cheap and easy to install.

Thanks. I had one of those myself a few years ago and it was a bit variable. As a last resort we will do it.
I know some radios though you can wire in at the back an extra cable/unit that gives the functionality. I think the radio must have AD2P or something like that. Just hoping someone has experience. Google is a bit vague.

That's cool, thanks. Didn't think about looking for a used unit to replace it with. Ta

It has.
Also given me an idea of some of these Android upgrade units. They do one specifically for the Fiat 500.
Fitting it could be fun though 😉
