Mercedes E350 Stereo Upgrade
Discussion
Recently bought a 2010 E350 convertible. From doing some research online it has the NTG 4 Command system, (6 disk changer and stereo with the screen above it on the dashboard).
Have been looking at options to upgrade it, ideally for something with Apple CarPlay, but all the solutions I've found rely on using the Aux in connector. The connection is in the glove box but when I connect my phone to it the sound quality isn't great, (It appears to be a common problem on them).Tried getting a better lead from Amazon but that didn't improve things so it looks like my best option would be to replace the whole stereo rather than try to upgrade whats there.
Does anyone know of a system that will retain or replace the Command system and screen? All the ones I've looked at replace the head unit only, not the screen in the dashboard.

I fitted one of these https://integratedautomotive.co.uk/product/mercede...
(I have the command 4.5 so mine is slightly different, but the hardware box is the same)
Not cheap, but sound quality is superb, Carplay works effortlessly and their support was brilliant when I had questions regarding installation.

They will be able to answer your questions for sure, but I beleive you do not need to use the aux cable input for the 4.0 and 4.5/7 devices as it's a piggyback module, that taps into the exisiting harness of the comand unit. I certainly didn't as it would have put me off too.
I beleive the aux cable is only for cars with the basic 'Audio 20' stereo.

I installed one of these at the weekend:

Sound through the Aux input is fine, little bit of tweaking in the settings required to ensure volume is normalised and balence is acceptable; full equaliser available in the unit.
Wireless carplay is the biggest plus, works seamlessly. Added a proper Mercedes splash screen so it looks fairly factory, and you don;t lose the command head unit, so can still change the clock time, have the original reverse camera and cd player if required. Lots more functionality can be added if you wish (3D reverse camera look great).
