Car audio is fried - what are my add-on options?
Discussion
I bought a 2002 X5 for muddy dog walks and to save the interior of my car.
It's a good motor for an old girl but the Radio/stereo doesn't work.
My mechanic told me the head unit needs replacing at around £900.....almost what I paid for the car.
The actual buttons on the controls are lit up,but no display and every now and then I hear a music very quietly coming from the speakers.
Are there any complete kits I can but to stick in the car to allow me to connect to my phones Bluetooth for music? I'm thinking a head unit and some Bluetooth speakers?
Failing that, does anyone know a cheaper fix for the current radio and stereo?
TIA

e53s are a little more complex than just changing the bit in the dash. The front end is usually just a display & control panel, the brains of the unit is in the boot, either in the nearside rear or under the spare wheel. You really need an idea of what you have to understand what the best fix is.
