I tried a while back to "upgrade" my standard in car sat nav, plugged the SD card into my PC and wiped it, having downloaded the latest maps onto the PC, the PC then would not accept the new files and only then did I see a note at the bottom of the SEAT website page saying that this kind of update is not possible in the UK. I've since bought a recent version of the software on an SD card from eBay but the car won't read that either. Help?

Thanks, Gluggy. This line caught my eye : " It's all over SEAT's website in the services section that they check and provide software updates free of charge as part of a service." as the car was in for a service at the dealer we bought it from a few months back and they either didn't notice the issue or did notice and didn't bother to address it. I suppose it can't hurt to call and ask them how much it would be to sort it out anyway. I guess I've just been nervous of warranty issues, etc.

I read somewhere that there's encryption on the official SD cards which isn't transferable if you copy to a different SD card. Suppose this is to prevent people copying the data and selling it on eBay.

Also, I think free software updates at the dealer refer to firmware and not necessarily updated base maps.

I think the dealer will have to sort this out for you £££
