Cheap double din unit
Discussion
I'm just about to enter the world of shedding and I'd like to replace the head unit.
Basic requirements are DAB and Android Auto (not mirroring). The car is a 2003 Volvo S40 (haven't yet determined if it has an amplifier or not).
I like the look of this: https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-jvc-kw-... but with the car costing £950, spending one third of the price on a new stereo doesn't seem in keeping with the art bangernomics.
So what typically goes for a good price on eBay it which of the Chinese style units on Amazon are decent?

As you want DAB - you might find you need a new aerial as the amplifier on the Volvo aerial may not cover DAB frequencies. Some have success with stick-on patch antennae, but some don't.
If it was me I'd try using the standard aerial and see if it works, but if you find it doesn't this might save you some fault finding!
There's an online retailer called DAB on Wheels who sell aerials etc, I fitted a Kinetic DRA-6006 and a JVC aftermarket HU, and I can pick up stations several miles beyond the point that cars with factory DAB systems can get them.
