Thatcham Question

New Insurers are giving a good quote but are insisting I fit a Thatcham 1 Cat 1
system to my 2019 Lincoln Continental or they will not insure it.

The Lincoln is fitted with Ford's SecuriLock PATS and a perimeter alarm.

Does that do the same job as the Thatcham system ?

Thatcham is certification company, not an alarm company. They test and rate alarms and immobilisers. Your insurers want to see that you have a Thatcham approved device on your car. Thatcham don't cover US cars. Your current system may well exceed Thatcham standards but won't have been tested by them, so won't have approval.

I'd suggest you try on the US car section as it must be a common issue for imported cars. Or try a different broker.
