I have a 1997 cabriolet where the door glass drops slightly when/before the door is opened *
But the window ecu (from Rockwell) no longer functions - and is no longer available.

What other cars have this feature? And the ECU is separate (rather than incorporated with the window motor).
I'm looking to see is an alternative part could be used.

The peugeot 307cc has the feature, but it seems to be incorporated with the motor.

Ot does anyone have a circuit diagram for how to make one?

( * Does anyone know what this feaure should be called? )

I think all BMW coupes do this (presumably any car with frameless doors?)

Mk2 Audi TT does this, probably about the right age to find units from breakers.

Mitsubishi colt czc

Which I believe shares its underpinnings with the original smart car

Had a bit of fun with the roof on the czc of a relative before

In the past, have worked out a method and drawn a diagram for a windows dropper circuit, no electronics used

You haven't mentioned what vehicle

Well, the OP's last question was about 4 years ago, and referenced replacing a door lock barrel on a "1997 ford/jaguar/db7".

But I'm betting this will be here another 4 years before the OP asks another question!

Hi @mmm-five, is there a problem with only asking a Q ocasionally. But ... you did deduce the car correctly wink

Of course not, but it makes it look like you'd post a question and then never come back with follow-ups or resolutions.

...and this is why I don't put money on any of my bets wink

With ignition on, top relays are energised and window motor circuit is as standard

With ignition off, dropper circuit is operational

The operation/procedure for using this Dropper/Lifter circuit is as follows

1) Door in unlocked position - Drop the window to clear the Targa Top and exit vehicle
2) Close and lock door with key
3) Operate the Drop/Lift Button - Window Lifts (Will be posting some options for the button/other methods later)

On returning to vehicle

4) Unlock door with key
5) Operate the Drop/Lift Button - Window Drops
6) Open door and in you get

5 wire CLS Actuator needs linking to door lock unlock button/mechanism

Drop lift button can be replaced with a momentary remote control device

Or

A hidden button can be fitted somewhere, I like the idea of a button fitted to the bottom of the door mirror, a Reed switch can be fitted inside a screen or panel and be operated with a magnet on a key-ring
Modifying the key-lock barrel to operate a micro-switch or fitting a micro-switch to the door handle are other methods - A bit of thought and engineering
There are numerous ways of going about switching this simple circuit

Oh!! ... yes OP has.
And thanks @Penelope Stopit for your diagram. Way beyond me, but I'll pass it to someone that may.

Thank you for posting back

Should you go for it, ask here if someone doing the job doesn't understand something

Have a good day
