I bought a used 335D last year and the car came with the Advanced Eye set up front/rear, fitted by the original supplying dealer. Just after I'd decided to get basic dash cams fitted to our other two cars, the front facing unit started playing up. It constantly reboots itself. Tried reformatting the SD card and using a different SD card but this fault can't be cleared. Online there's not a lot of help so I decided to replace the whole thing with the Garmin Mini 2 I'd had fitted to the other cars. Both of those were done at Halfords. When they attempted to do the BMW install they couldn't. The existing hardwire power is soldered in and they can't get a run to the fusebox in the boot or go through the bulkhead into the engine bay. Since the Advanced Eye runs a specific 12V power plug whereas the Garmin uses USB power, I'm a bit knackered. Does anyone know of any current dashcam makes that use 12V jack plug power so that I could utilise the existing wiring ? I think Blackvue may but they're damned expensive.

You could just get a 12V to 5V USB convertor?

(not recommending those specific ones, but there are tons of options out there)

That's way beyond my plug in a cable abilities I'm afraid.
